The world of PCBA: Through Hole Technology THT 🌐🔩

Through-hole technology, or short THT, is the original way of attaching electronic components to printed circuit boards (PCBs). TH components have pins on the underside that are inserted through metallised holes in the PCB and soldered on the back. 🔍

SMD components and SMT (Surface Mount Technology) emerged in the 1980s. The advantage was an enormous space saving because the component connections were no longer inserted through the PCB but soldered to the PCB surface.

Nevertheless, components with TH connections have never completely disappeared. The THT design offers high mechanical strength and reliability, especially for large components such as connectors.

Curious to find out more? 🎥📲 In our video, we show the special features of THT in detail and explain how the professionals in our PCB assembly department assemble THT components.
