World of Industry, Technology & Science offers solutions

Technological developments succeed each other rapidly. Social challenges, such as food safety, energy scarcity and labor shortages, require innovation and flexibility.

During WoTS 2024, exhibitors from the World of Industry, World of Laboratory & World of Electronics will show their latest technologies, innovations and tools to help you with these developments. Only together we can arrive at the best solutions. The WoTS 2024 gives you a complete overview of what is currently happening within the industry.

The most eye-catching innovations take a central place at the fair. During WoTS 2024, the HighTech Trophy will be awarded to the most innovative solution. Novelties from trade fair participants are assessed by a professional jury and by you. You can view the nominated novelties in the special gallery on the exhibition floor. The winner will be announced on Thursday, September 26.

Why is quality important?

In the Netherlands, we rely on the quality of products and services through a well-functioning quality infrastructure. During the seminar “Why is quality important”, experts from Kiwa, Lab-QAcademy and VSL will explain what’s behind this infrastructure and how the various parties work together to ensure quality.

The quality infrastructure in the Netherlands comprises an extensive network of organizations, institutes and systems dedicated to ensuring the quality and safety of products, services and processes. Thanks to this network, as a consumer, you know that the pump that counts the liters of gasoline you have refueled really is correct, and you can trust that the roads you drive on are safe.

So quality affects our daily lives and is of great social importance. But how exactly does this world of standards, testing and certification work? Ties Joosten, director of infra & sport at Kiwa and chairman of industry association Fenelab tells more about how the quality infrastructure works during the World of Industry, Technology & Science.

“Quality is guaranteed by a triangle consisting of standardization institutions, TIC companies and the Council of Accreditation. Standards are drawn up by, for example, NEN or the Association of Scheme Administrators. The TIC companies test, inspect and certify according to the established standards and the Accreditation Council checks whether the results of the test companies are reliable,” says Ties.

As a TIC company, Kiwa infra and sport is responsible for quality control of mobility infrastructure and sports facilities in the Netherlands. In the brand new laboratory in Apeldoorn, they test a diversity of products and services. Ties: “Everything is tested here, from gas lines, to electrical appliances and sports fields.”

How safely do you work?

Everyone knows how important it is to work safely in the lab. But are you aware of the latest developments and solutions to work more safely? During the World of Industry, Technology & Science from September 24 to September 27, you can participate free of charge in the X-pedition Safety: How safely do you work?

The X-pedition is an interactive tour across the exhibition floor along six specialists. You will learn in a practical way about harmful noise in laboratories, the safe disposal of toxic and infectious waste and how to recognize dangerous situations in the workplace. At each booth, you will be asked a question. After completing the X-pedition, you will receive a present and a certificate.

Working safely starts with yourself. Therefore, we will focus on the awareness and the use of personal protective equipment at the stand of VOS instruments. There you will discover how to make safe behavior in the lab a natural thing. At Denios you bring this knowledge directly into practice. Here, recognizable situations that affect safety in the workplace are simulated.

Air quality is essential for a healthy and safe working environment. Dupa shows how to continuously monitor air quality with custom-made carbon filters. Don’t forget the risk of harmful noise levels either. The specialists at Avans+ explain how to assess noise levels to protect yourself and your employees.

Continue your way to the SALM AND KIPP booth. There you’ll see how an automated disposal service makes the working environment safer through trouble-free handling of hazardous waste. Finally, we can’t forget the microbiological safety bench. The safety bench gives a “safe” feeling, but the user himself has a big influence on this. The Baker Company provides helpful tips for making a microbiological safety bench truly safe

You can follow the X-pedition every day of the exhibition week. The safety seminar takes place on Sept. 24 between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
