RoboTeam Twente
RoboTeam Twente, a student team from the University of Twente and Saxion University of Applied Sciences, remains committed to advancing robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). The team focuses on the design and development of autonomous soccer robots. Alongside this, the team participates in talks, workshops, and various events to demonstrate the potential of AI and robotics.
RoboCup Journey
A key event for RoboTeam Twente is the annual RoboCup, a global robotics tournament. Competing in the football league with small-sized robots, the team embraces the RoboCup's mission to challenge a human football team with robots by the mid-21st century. The RoboCup is known for evident innovation and knowledge exchange, with teams sharing their advancements through papers and open-source contributions.
Collaboration with Eurocircuits
This past year, the electronics team at RoboTeam Twente undertook a major project: redesigning the entire electronic hardware of their robots. For the production of their PCBs, they relied on Eurocircuits. We are pleased to report that, in the end, all the PCBs functioned well.
Technical Challenge and Tournament Performance
In the RoboCup's technical challenge, RoboTeam Twente achieved an impressive third place, finishing behind two multiple-time world champions.
However, during practice matches, we encountered unexpected hardware issues that only surfaced on the larger field. These problems led to a loss of driving precision, making it significantly harder to catch the ball. As a result, we had to compromise, reducing our top speed and acceleration by half and sacrificing some precision.
In the tournament, we got three losses, one tie, and two victories.
Eurocircuits has been a beloved partner for years, we value their PCB quality and their support highly and are grateful for their support!
